2-Jan-2011 Post!

The pictures go from oldest at top to most recent at bottom.
Halloween costumes, Halloween of 2010, Sacajawea (or Pocahontas), an Egyptian princess, and Robin Hood.  You have to guess which is which.

Kevin shooting the .22 in November, out in desert.
Lora shooting the .22.  Grandpa Evans gave this gun to Kevin as a birthday or Christmas gift.  He since felt bad about that, because as a semi-automatic, it's not as safe as other .22s.  Nevertheless, we're very careful with it.  Kevin and a good friend who happens to be a Ridgecrest city police officer, have taught the girls gun safety.  Lora loves shooting.  JenAi and Halle don't understand the appeal of it yet.

JenAi and Halle building a snowman in the Evans grandparents backyard.

The finished product.

The city of Hurricane, UT., Nov. 2010.  The snow on the mountains is beautiful.  We did a Utah trip for Thanksgiving, and visited lots of family.

A few miles east of Hurricane, on the the highway going to Grand Canyon.

Beautiful snow on the roadside.  Can you tell what element of weather we don't see a lot of, living in the Mojave desert?

Pre-Christmas merry-making.
Kevin got more gun-stuff for Christmas.

Halle got Legos.  The coolest toys in the world.

JenAi got Legos.  You're never too old for them.  The best Legos, however, are the mid-80's space-system sets that Kevin and his brother had when they were kids.

Halle got an MP3 player for Christmas.

JenAi got a cell phone.  No more wondering where your kid is, when you've been waiting for her to come out to the car, for the last hour.  Judging by the picture, it's hard to tell if she's pleased or not.  The hard and fast rule with the Evans family cell phones is No Text Messaging.  We're still too cheap for texting plans.

Lora's Christmas gift of a real bow and arrows was the big hit.  It was totally unexpected.  Heidi's idea was to put sticks and rocks in a small box, with a note, and wrap it up as a gift, with bow and all.  The note told Lora to look under her bed for her gift (the bow and arrows were too hard to wrap up).  So Lora had been sleeping all Christmas Eve, with her main gift underneath her bed!

Kevin, helping JenAi with one of her gifts - she and Halle got a real pottery wheel.  It's cool, but it takes lots of patience, and lots of squirts of water.
Concentration!  If you're too hasty, the cutting tool will just push the pottery right off the wheel, and then it's very difficult to get it centered again.

JenAi and Halle playing a Lego "board" game.  You build the game, then role the dice and move your characters around the board.  It's a lot of fun.

Lora got a headlight.  She has oohed and ahhed Kevin's, every time we've gone hiking or camping.

Snow on Jan 2nd.  By nightfall there was actually some accumulating in the yards.  This is pretty amazing for Ridgecrest.
